A prompt is your instruction
A prompt is the message you give to an AI tool. It can be a question, a task, a role, a format request, a source to analyze, or a set of constraints. The prompt tells the model what kind of output to generate.
Clear prompts reduce guessing
If your prompt is vague, the AI must guess what you want. If your prompt includes context and a goal, the answer is usually more useful.
Context changes the answer
The same task can need different answers depending on who it is for. 'Explain AI' could mean a short answer for a child, a technical answer for a developer, or a study guide for a student. Tell the AI the audience and situation.
Format helps you use the result
Ask for the format you need: bullet points, table, checklist, email draft, study plan, step-by-step guide, pros and cons, or a short summary. This makes the output easier to read and act on.
Prompts can include limits
Useful constraints include length, tone, reading level, time available, what to avoid, and what sources or notes to use. Limits help prevent answers that are too broad, too long, or not practical.
